Champney's West is a small little community with about 65 full time residents year long. It is a beautiful community that has alot to offer. The Recreation Committee holds a huge part in making this community what it is today. We have various fundarisers throughout the year but our biggest would have to be our annual Champney's West Concert. The Champney's West concert consists of three sold out nights full of fun and laughter and some great old fashionned entertainment! The members of the committee all get together and make this event well worth watching.
We have a hiking trail that takes you around the commnity and takes you up to Fox Island for some breath taking scenery.
We also have a Heritage Museum that holds the history of our community from years and years ago and artifacts that have been donated by various people. It is located in a house that was donated by Dr. Marjorie Rogasta in memory of her mother Ella Freeman. It will be opened during the summer for anyone who wishes to drop by and take a look at our heritage.
In August we have our annual Champney's West Day and Cardboard Boat Race! This year will take place on August 8th and 9th! We have games of chance, food, bingo, ticket sales and much more! This event drwas hundreds of people to our community. To enter in the boat race you must be at least 16 years of age and MUST wear a life jacket.
These are just a few of the things that our community has to offer. The most important thing is our residents and the friendly way in which we interact with each other every day. This community has alot of potential and makes it one of the most beautiful places to live! Hopefully next year will be a huge success hope to see you all in 2010!!
